A gift from her mother, La Pucelle's most cherished personal possession was a band of engraved gold. It was cruelly taken from her finger when she became a prisoner.
In testimony March 17, 1431 during her trial in Rouen, Joan described this ring.
"There were three crosses on it, and no other mark that I know of, except JHESUS and MARIA. "
(Joan of Arc)
In February of 2002, Mr. Phillips began to read the trial records that are found on The Saint Joan of Arc Center web site. He became inspired to design another ring, with the intention of offering it as a "gift of love," and as a "replacement" for the one taken from La Pucelle.
The design comes as close as possible to historic detail.
This is what the "+ Jhesus + Maria + " ring looks like.
Rings have already been cast, in three different metals.
